our story

there were two distinct turns in meghan stein webster's life that inspired eco-generation. eight years ago, her father and best friend was diagnosed with leukemia which was determined to be caused by environmental factors. after enrolling in a clinical trial, gardening was found as the common thread among the patients. in 2002, meghan lost her father to the carcinogenic fertilizers and pesticides he used to bring her family's beautiful english garden to life.

the second moment happened while meghan was pregnant with her daughter, clare, in 2005. throughout her pregnancy, meghan educated herself about the types of foods she ate and household products she used. all in an attempt to reduce the potential harm to her child. meghan's physician also encouraged her not to garden due to the levels of chemicals and pesticides in the dirt, and the threat exposure would pose to her baby.

meghan's personal experiences, combined with the daily news about global warming and the fragile ecosystem, made her fearful of the world in which she would raise her daughter. she vowed to do everything in her power to shelter clare and the next generation from shouldering the effects of our environment. eco-generation is meghan's first step.
